Erica Gavzy (b 1994)

is a New Jersey-based artist with a traditional background in oil painting and drawing from The Florence Academy of Art and contemporary learning and teaching practice from The College of New Jersey, where she earned her BS in Art Education.

E Gavzy Studios seeks to push the boundaries of traditional definitions of identity and gender through a mix of traditional and contemporary media. Gavzy combines her initial love for oil paint and detailed rendering, with gold leafing and acrylic paint, to develop deeply investigative pathways in self exploration.

Her psychology minor influences her approach in looking at the human condition, identity, and gender roles through mixed media artwork. She has exhibited artwork across the state, and most notable portraits are exhibited at the Hackensack Meridian Hope Tower and the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Gavzy is currently a candidate for an MFA in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Gavzy's work continues to push the boundaries between traditional approach and modern conversation.
